Basketball Recap: Syracuse Comes Up Short

Syracuse was the 61-59 winner over Springville when they last played one another back in December of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. The Titans lost to the Red Devils on the road by a 82-67 margin on Wednesday. The Titans were down 67-44 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Syracuse still got an impressive performance from Carter Robinson, who went 9-for-13 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Colton Hoenigman, who posted 14 points.

Springville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamyn Sondrup, who shot 57% from the field en route to 21 points and six boards. Sondrup is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last 15 games he's played dating back to last season. Mason Hansen was another key player, going 7-for-13 to rack up 23 points and seven assists.

Syracuse's record now sits at 2-2. As for Springville, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Coming up, Syracuse will square off against Pine View at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Titans will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Springville, they will challenge Hunter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
