Recap: Mount Airy Christian Academy vs. Perry Hall Christian
If Mount Airy Christian Academy were feeling good off their 30-10 takedown of Varsity Opponent last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mount Airy Christian Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 27-26 to Perry Hall Christian. Mount Airy Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Perry Hall Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.
Despite the loss, Mount Airy Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Ava McGlaughlin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McGlaughlin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Madison Pier, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Mount Airy Christian Academy's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.8 points per game. As for Perry Hall Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 1-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Airy Christian Academy will take on Rockbridge Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rockbridge Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Perry Hall Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Harford Christian at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
