Volleyball Recap: Manatee Comes Up Short

Manatee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hurricanes of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Manatee was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-14, 25-19.

Mariana Alvarez was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 13 digs and three assists. Those three assists gave her a new career-high.

Manatee's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lakewood Ranch, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manatee will venture away from home to take on Booker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakewood Ranch, they will head out to challenge Riverview Sarasota at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
