Basketball Recap: Watauga Piles Up the Points Against Ashe County

Watauga had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 27-point drubbing they dealt Ashe County on Friday. The Watauga Pioneers claimed a resounding 70-43 victory over the Ashe County Huskies. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Cade Keller, who went 9-for-12 on his way to 21 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.6% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Railey, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 15 points and three steals.

Watauga has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Ashe County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Watauga does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ashe County, they will challenge Alexander Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jayon Connor and Bryce Peters.
