Basketball Recap: Belgreen Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Belgreen lost to Haleyville back in December of 2019, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Belgreen Bulldogs walked away with a 53-42 victory over the Haleyville Lions. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Lions are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Belgreen is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points per game. As for Haleyville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.

Belgreen has already played their next contest (against Alcorn Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Haleyville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-44 loss against Fayette County on the 27th.
