Volleyball Game Preview: Newport Cubs vs. North Bend Bulldogs

After both having extra time off, the Newport Cubs and the North Bend Bulldogs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Newport is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: Philomath, who was ranked 15th at the time (Newport was ranked 23rd). The Cubs fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Cubs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, North Bend was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Marshfield.

Newport's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for North Bend, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything went Newport's way against North Bend in their previous meeting last Tuesday, as Newport made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cubs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
