Softball Recap: Roane County Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Roane County put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Meigs County Tigers an 8-0 shutout. For the Yellowjackets, this counts as revenge for the 8-5 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Sailor Presley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mylah Dryman, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Ava Hamilton also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Roane County's record now sits at 7-0. As for Meigs County, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roane County will venture away from home to face off against Rockwood at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Roane County is facing Rockwood at the right time seeing as Rockwood is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Meigs County, they will head out on the road to take on Chattanooga Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
