Basketball Recap: Estacado Drops Season-High Score on Lake View

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Estacado). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Lake View Chiefs 110-46. The Matadors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Lake View had strong showings from Braylon White, who posted 13 points, and Nic Leyva, who earned eight points. What's more, White also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

Estacado has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Lake View, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-12.

Estacado will head out on the road to take on Big Spring at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Big Spring has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Estacado will come in with seven straight wins. As for Lake View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Levelland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.
