Basketball Recap: Buena Vista Takes a Loss

If Buena Vista was feeling good fresh off their 94-47 takedown of Bryan last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Buena Vista Bison were beaten by the Millard North Mustangs 70-42 on Saturday. The match marked the Bison's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Buena Vista's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of LC Doss, who posted 15 points and six boards, and Zhyaire Partee, who earned six points along with six boards and four steals. Doss is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Jarmon, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Millard North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Rollins, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most rebounds Rollins has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Coriahnn Gallatin, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points.

With the loss, Buena Vista broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3. As for Millard North, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Buena Vista wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 76-74 defeat against Millard West on the 30th. As for Millard North, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-61 loss against Papillion-LaVista South on the 30th.
