Columbus has been on a difficult stretch since their win on November 18. They fell just short of the MAST Academy Makos by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Explorers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Makos are ranked 33rd).

Columbus' goal came courtesy of Santiago Montoya, which was the first he's scored this season.

Columbus now has a losing record at 4-5-2. As for MAST Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus and Gulliver Prep will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Columbus' last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. After both having extra time off, MAST Academy and Southridge will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 2:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
