C.B. Aycock is 1-9 against Fike since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Fike Demons at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with C.B. Aycock sitting on six straight wins and Fike on 24.
C.B. Aycock is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 61-41 margin over West Johnston on Tuesday. Given the Golden Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Wildcats are ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
C.B. Aycock relied on the efforts of Audrey Teasley, who posted 22 points along with five assists and five boards, and Zakayla Sanders, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Sanders also posted an 80% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Madison Smith was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fike was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Hunt 75-35. The Demons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matches by 26 points or more this season.
C.B. Aycock better keep an eye on Jamaria Freeman. She was instrumental in Fike's win, going 12-for-22 en route to 30 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Freeman has scored at least a third of Fike's points. Another player making a difference was Emory Skinner, who went 9-for-14 to rack up 23 points.
Fike smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.
Fike's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-0. As for C.B. Aycock, their record is now 19-5.
C.B. Aycock couldn't quite finish off Fike when the teams last played on February 4th and fell 45-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Freeman, who scored 24 points and four steals. Now that C.B. Aycock knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time?
