Softball Game Preview: El Paso Tigers vs. Jefferson Silver Foxes

The El Paso Tigers will challenge the Jefferson Silver Foxes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on El Paso, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, El Paso turned things around against Andress on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles an 11-0 shutout. The Tigers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 18th.

The team relied heavily on Sophie Gomez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. London Leyva Dand was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

El Paso always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Andress only posted an OBP of .278.

Meanwhile, Jefferson lost 22-2 to Chapin on Friday. The Silver Foxes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jefferson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabella Qui?onez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Qui?onez has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Another was Isabel Sealey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for El Paso, their victory bumped their record up to 7-16.

El Paso beat Jefferson 14-9 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will El Paso repeat their success, or does Jefferson has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
