Baseball Recap: Alma Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bridgeport

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alma). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bridgeport Bearcats a 19-0 shutout on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Owen Seeley was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Seeley was also big at the plate, earning two RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Brennen Palmer was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Palmer is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Helinski, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Alma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Alma's victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1. As for Bridgeport, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Alma will square off against Cadillac at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bridgeport, they will head out to square off against Freeland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
