Basketball Recap: McKeel Academy Takes a Loss

McKeel Academy lost against Oakleaf back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The McKeel Academy Wildcats might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Oakleaf Knights an easy 61-41 win. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Knights are ranked 35th).

McKeel Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Oakleaf, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

McKeel Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fort Meade at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Fort Meade is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. Oakleaf and Jordan Christian Prep will round out the year against one another at at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Jordan Christian Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Oakleaf likes a good challenge.
