Baseball Game Preview: Hamburg Lions vs. Woodlawn Bears

Hamburg is 0-7 against Woodlawn since March of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Lions will square off against the Bears at 4:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Hamburg came up short against Crossett and fell 9-4. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Woodlawn waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Logan Clark's shutout, as he gave up just a hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Garrett Weatherford, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Hargis, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Woodlawn pushed their record up to 23-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Hamburg, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Hamburg might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Woodlawn in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
