Softball Recap: Montwood's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Montwood waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Eastwood Troopers. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pia Velez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaeda Quinones, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Trinity Munoz, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Quinones wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Montwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive contests.

Montwood's record now sits at 21-6. As for Eastwood, they moved to 24-3-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Montwood and Eastwood will both be playing Socorro the next time they take the field. The Rams will head out to face the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Troopers will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
