Basketball Recap: Dawson School Drops Season-High Score on Estes Park

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dawson School). They walked away with a 65-57 win over the Estes Park Bobcats on Wednesday. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bobcats, too.

Leading Dawson School to victory were Milo Richtel and Trey Larsen. Richtel went 8-for-17 en route to 22 points and three steals, while Larsen went 7-for-11 on his way to 18 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Larsen a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Tu, who posted 13 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Estes Park lost, don't look at Hayden Powell. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards. Powell has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. Phineas Smith was another key player, putting up ten points along with six boards and four steals.

Dawson School is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Estes Park, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-8.

Dawson School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 78-29 defeat against SkyView Academy on the 7th. As for Estes Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-51 loss against Belleview Christian on the 7th.
