Soccer Game Preview: Turpin vs. Batavia

The Turpin Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Batavia Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Turpin's last five contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Batavia will have to contend with a Turpin team hungry for a win, something the squad hasn't seen since August 26. Turpin fell just short of Indian Hill by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Turpin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Indian Hill are ranked 21st).

Meanwhile, Batavia made easy work of Western Brown on Thursday and carried off a 4-1 victory. The result was nothing new for Batavia, who have now won nine matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

The win made it two in a row for Batavia and bumps their season record up to 9-4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those two matches. As for Turpin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-4.

Turpin might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Batavia in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
