Basketball Recap: Mead Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Mead won the last time they faced Riverdale Ridge and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Mead Mavericks walked away with a 67-55 victory over the Riverdale Ridge Ravens. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mavericks as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mead had a senior duo take command as Matthew Angelo went 10 of 15 on his way to 24 points along with seven boards and five assists and Max Windhorst almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was Angelo's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of George Hubert, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Riverdale Ridge lost, don't look at Dylan Nieto. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Nieto a new career-high. Nicholas Williams was another key player, putting up nine points.

Mead's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Riverdale Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Mead wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-41 win against Silver Creek on the 10th. As for Riverdale Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-55 victory against Prairie View on the 9th.
