The Mt. Vernon Mountaineers made easy work of the Lighthouse Christian Chargers on Thursday and carried off a 14-1 win. Considering the Mountaineers have won 17 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Cheyenne Bieber was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilly Burk, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Mt. Vernon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Mt. Vernon is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Lighthouse Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.
