Basketball Recap: Cedar Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Hayden Kee and Benson Tippets

Cedar lost against Desert Hills back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cedar Reds lost 63-40 to the Desert Hills Thunder.

Cedar's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Benson Tippets, who posted nine points and five assists, and Hayden Kee, who earned 13 points. Those five assists gave Tippets a new career-high.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Desert Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ben Chase, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Jack Openshaw, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Cedar has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Desert Hills, their record now sits at 11-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedar will venture away from home to face off against Crimson Cliffs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Desert Hills, they will head out to take on Hurricane at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hurricane is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.
