Basketball Game Preview: Tellico Plains Bears vs. McMinn Central Chargers

Tellico Plains is 0-10 against McMinn Central since December of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Tellico Plains Bears will take on the McMinn Central Chargers. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Tellico Plains sitting on five straight victories and McMinn Central on 26.

Tellico Plains had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 24-point drubbing they dealt Tyner Academy on Friday. Tellico Plains blew past Tyner Academy 76-52. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Rams are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, McMinn Central was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Bledsoe County 83-12. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 games by 21 points or more this season.

McMinn Central pushed their record up to 27-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.2 points over those games. As for Tellico Plains, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.

Tellico Plains was taken down by McMinn Central 77-47 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Tellico Plains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
