Volleyball Recap: Advance Falls Despite Big Games from Mallory Mayberry and Brogan Hawkins

If Advance was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Zalma on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets fell 2-0 to the Lindbergh Flyers on Saturday. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Flyers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Brogan Hawkins and Mallory Mayberry certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Hawkins had 13 digs, while Mayberry had five assists and four digs.

Lindbergh found their leader in freshman Julie Jenkerson, who had ten digs and two aces. Jenkerson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Advance's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Lindbergh, they now have a winning record of 10-9-1.

Advance wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Valle Catholic on the 11th. As for Lindbergh, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Jackson on the 11th.
