Harbor hasn't had much luck against Aptos recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pirates will face off against the Mariners at 4:30 p.m. Harbor has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Harbor lost 15-4 to San Lorenzo Valley on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly 11 runs.
Addysin Schaefer was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Williams-Zamora, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Aptos had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Cardinals as they made off with a 12-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Mariners, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Mya Najera-White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Aptos let Nova Neu and Gwen Vaca run wild. Neu went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Vaca went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Neu has posted since back in April of 2025. Natalie Arreola also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Aptos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
Harbor's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Aptos, their record now sits at 13-4.
Harbor might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Aptos in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
