Softball Recap: Amelia Academy Takes a Loss

Amelia Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 22 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Brunswick Academy Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-3 back in March.

As for Brunswick Academy, their record is now 13-4. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 11 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Brunswick Academy's part, Lexi Vaughan Howerton and Avery Griffin made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Howerton pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Griffin tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Howerton went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Griffin got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kylie Reed Walker was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Lynn Corum, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Amelia Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 20-3 victory against Westover Christian Academy on the 29th. As for Brunswick Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 loss against St. Catherine's on the 29th.
