Basketball Recap: Lake Region Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Tamara Devries and Aleah Devries

Lake Region Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 31-26 heartbreaker at the hands of the Liberty Christian Eagles. The Hornets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Lake Region Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aleah DeVries, who posted six points in addition to six rebounds and five steals, and Tamara DeVries, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards. That's the most points Tamara has posted since back in January of 2024.

Even though they lost, Lake Region Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Lake Region Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Liberty Christian, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Lake Region Christian will be playing at home against Woodcrest Baptist Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberty Christian, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on First Baptist at 5:00 p.m. on January 21st.
