Football Recap: Jamari Snow's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Canal Winchester over Pickerington Central

After flying high against Reynoldsburg last Friday, Canal Winchester came back down to earth. The Indians fell 43-30 to the Pickerington Central Tigers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Tigers are ranked 14th).

Canal Winchester's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamari Snow, who rushed for 148 yards on only 14 carries, and also picked up 60 receiving yards and one score. Quinton McGhee was another key signal caller, throwing for 239 yards and three TDs.

Rocco Williams had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 39 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 201 yards and one TD for Pickerington Central. 101 of Williams' passing yards were hauled in by Arreyon Washington.

Having lost for the first time this season, Canal Winchester fell to 4-1. As for Pickerington Central, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Canal Winchester will square off against Newark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' defense better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 35.4 points per game this season. As for Pickerington Central, they will take on Lancaster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Golden Gales' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.4 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
