Basketball Game Preview: St. Monica Academy Crusaders vs. Monrovia Wildcats

The St. Monica Academy Crusaders will venture away from home to face off against the Monrovia Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

St. Monica Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Lancaster Baptist on Thursday as St. Monica Academy made off with a 69-48 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Crusaders sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Meanwhile, Monrovia can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They breezed by Marshall to the tune of 88-16. The game marked the Wildcats' most dominant win of the season so far.

St. Monica Academy better keep an eye on Kevin Sayles. He was instrumental in Monrovia's win, going 10 of 12 on his way to 23 points and five steals. Sayles is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Cardenas, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Monrovia was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Monrovia's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for St. Monica Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

St. Monica Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Monrovia in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 64-57. Does St. Monica Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Monrovia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
