Football Recap: Riverton Parke Starts Season with Win at Home

Riverton Parke gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Everything went their way against the Cloverdale Clovers as they made off with a 33-13 victory. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Clovers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Derek Collom was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 131 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries, and also caught one touchdown. Those 131 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jett Lesniak was another key rusher, rushing for 95 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Riverton Parke was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 382 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 203 rushing yards in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Cloverdale still got an impressive performance from Keshaun Taylor, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries.

Looking ahead, Riverton Parke is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Edinburgh at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cloverdale, they will host North Putnam at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
