Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Ridge Raiders vs. Round Rock Dragons

Cedar Ridge's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Round Rock hitters got past them. Cedar Ridge came out on top against Round Rock by a score of 15-12 on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Raiders have beaten the Dragons on their field since March 17, 2021.

Cedar Ridge got a massive performance out of Matthew Fletcher, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave Fletcher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Shoemaker, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Fletcher wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Cedar Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for Cedar Ridge: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.2.

Cedar Ridge's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Round Rock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-3-1.
