Softball Recap: Morningside Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of eight wins, Morningside Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against the Geneva Knights, falling 17-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since May 1, 2024.

Morningside Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leigha Race, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Race hit this season.

Morningside Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-2. As for Geneva, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2.

Coming up, Morningside Academy will take on Harvest Community in a tournament on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 14.1 runs per game this season. As for Geneva, they will be taking part in a tournament against Windermere Prep at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.2, the Lakers 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
