League recap: Middletown's Chenoweth delivers best pitching performance from past week

Section 9 Orange County I's top pitcher this week was Middletown's Grant Chenoweth. Over the past week, he had one win and ten Ks.

Newburgh Free Academy (6-5, 3-3) is red-hot, having won four straight games, the longest such streak in the league. In the past week, the Goldbacks won another two games,.

The Middie Bears' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 32 hits and eight walks, both of which led the league.

Middletown, the season leader in runs scored at 83, added to its total with a league-high 32 runs this week.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Chenoweth, who turned in ten Ks for the Middie Bears. With 38 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.



Middletown's Vincenzo Pepe racked up five RBIs this week, more than any other hitter. Pepe has ten RBIs this season, second in the league.

Brian Paccione drove in four runners on Friday in the Middie Bears' 21-4 victory over Burke Catholic. He went 4-for-6 and scored two runs.
