Basketball Recap: Dobson Comes Up Short

Dobson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against the Pinnacle Pioneers, falling 75-23. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Pioneers are ranked tenth).

Despite the defeat, Dobson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lana Shirley went 8 of 17 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Norah Moo, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds for Pinnacle. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Carnal, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 14 points and five steals.

Dobson's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Pinnacle, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.

Dobson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-25 defeat against Red Mountain on the 10th. As for Pinnacle, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 78-30 win against Apollo on the 10th.
