Basketball Recap: Southside Comes Up Short

Southside lost against Laurens back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Southside Tigers fell 32-21 to the Laurens Raiders. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laurens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nyri Allen, who posted 16 points along with five boards and three steals. Allen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Zoe Young was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Southside has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Laurens, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-11.

Southside has already played their next game, a 38-29 victory against Emerald on the 31st. As for Laurens, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 50-47 win against Wren on the 31st.
