Baseball Recap: Otay Ranch's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Otay Ranch dropped their record down to 16-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by just one run.

Fernando Tovalin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Otay Ranch saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Regan Felix, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Mater Dei Catholic, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-13. Even more impressive is the teams they beat to make that streak: Otay Ranch, they, and Olympian.

On Mater Dei Catholic's side, Colton Gregg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
