Baseball Recap: Gretna Dragons vs. Standing Bear Grizzlies

Gretna had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 12-16 to make it four. They fell just short of the Standing Bear Grizzlies by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 back in April.

Layton Parrack was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Parrack was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Parrack wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Dicken, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Standing Bear, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

On Standing Bear's side, Renton LaHolt tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. What's more, LaHolt posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five games.

As of now, neither Gretna nor Standing Bear have any future games scheduled.
