Softball Recap: North Eugene Highlanders vs. Crater Comets
North Eugene extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 5-6. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crater Comets. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Comets this season, with their most recent loss being a 11-0 defeat last Tuesday.
North Eugene saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylani Washburn, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.
As for Crater, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.
On Crater's side, Amanda Hammer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Ady Thayer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
While North Eugene had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
