Baseball Recap: Clarion Area Find Success

Clarion Area won the last time they faced Cranberry Area and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bobcats came out on top against the Berries by a score of 6-1. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by exactly five runs.

Ethan Rex spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Derek Smail was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Harrison, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Clarion Area and bumps their season record up to 8-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Cranberry Area, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Clarion Area has already played their next contest (against Moniteau), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Cranberry Area, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Franklin at 4:15 p.m.
