Football Game Preview: Midlothian Panthers vs. Highland Park Scots

The Midlothian Panthers will face off against the Highland Park Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Midlothian comes in on four and Highland Park on eight.

Midlothian is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Red Oak: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Panthers blew the Hawks out of the water with a 46-10 final score. That looming 46-10 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

It was another big night for Beau Wendel, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries, and also threw for 141 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. Midlothian also got help from Brendyn Jackson, who showed off his sure hands for 136 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Midlothian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 344 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Red Oak only rushed for 98.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Midlothian's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Foster Mason with two.

Meanwhile, Highland Park won against Centennial last Friday with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Scots beat Cleburne by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 56-14. Considering the Scots have won six games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Midlothian's record now sits at 7-2. As for Highland Park, their record is now 8-1.

Things could have been worse for Midlothian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 38-21 loss to Highland Park when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
