Softball Preview: Shelby County Rockets vs. Carroll County Panthers
Shelby County has been on the road for three straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Carroll County Panthers at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Shelby County is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Saturday, just like they did against Whitefield Academy (and have done all season long). Everything went Shelby County's way against Whitefield Academy on Thursday as Shelby County made off with a 13-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Shelby County considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Kaylee Cox made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Cox was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, a triple, and a stolen base.
In other batting news, Madison Clark was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kendra Wilson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Carroll County scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They never let Eminence onto the board and left with a 27-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what Carroll County needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.
Shelby County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Carroll County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.
