Softball Game Preview: Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats vs. Altamont Indians

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City hasn't had much luck against Altamont recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bobcats will take on the Indians at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City came up short against Arcola and fell 6-3.

Macee Rodman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Jayla Arnett also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Altamont, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Oblong 3-2 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Grace Lemke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Altamont pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Altamont when the teams last played back in April. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
