Baseball Recap: Lake Finds Home Field Redemption Against Wadsworth

There's no place like home for Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Wadsworth Grizzlies by a score of 7-4 on Friday. The Blue Streaks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Grizzlies, too.

Lake got a great performance from Grady Widner as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

On the hitting side, Ty DeGeorge and Emmitt Filisky did most of the damage at the plate: DeGeorge went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Filisky went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Noah Kubasky was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lake's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wadsworth, their record is now 2-5.

When Lake and Wadsworth next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Blue Streaks will try to stop Jackson's five-game winning streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lake 3.1, the Polar Bears 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Wadsworth will face off against Stow-Munroe Falls and their three-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
