Basketball Game Preview: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Zephyrhills Bulldogs + Official Tickets

The Mitchell Mustangs will face off against the Zephyrhills Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mitchell will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Mitchell is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Gulf: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Mustangs blew the Buccaneers out of the water with a 71-35 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mustangs had established a 22-point advantage.

Veda Murphy and Kaylana Little were among the main playmakers for Mitchell as the former dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten steals. Little is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Malaya Hunter, who shot 55% from the field en route to 14 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Mitchell was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Zephyrhills earned a 32-24 victory over Pasco on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won six in a row.

Mitchell's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Zephyrhills, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Mitchell beat Zephyrhills 54-45 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
