Basketball Recap: Brookfield Takes a Loss

Brookfield lost against Champion back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Brookfield Warriors were beaten by the Champion Golden Flashes 54-19. The defeat leaves the Warriors without a win on the season.

Champion had a senior duo take command as Kennedy Caldwell went 6 for 11 on her way to 16 points in addition to five blocks and four steals and Addie Warzala almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. Those five blocks set a new season-high mark for Caldwell. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley McClurg, who posted five points.

Brookfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Champion, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookfield will face off against Liberty at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Brookfield is facing Liberty at the right time seeing as Liberty is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Champion, they will square off against Struthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
