Recap: Ben Davis Giants vs. Carmel Greyhounds

The Ben Davis Giants's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 70-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carmel. While losing is never fun, Ben Davis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Carmel is ranked 50th).

Ben Davis' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aleia Sultzer, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aubri Ingram, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Even though they lost, Ben Davis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. This was only their 13th loss (out of 17 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Ben Davis dropped their record down to 5-17 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Carmel, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Ben Davis will face off against Decatur Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Carmel, they will face off against Fishers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fishers focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
