CIF Central Coast Section to crown champions in eight divisions.

There's no more Open Division runner-ups considered for the CIF regional playoffs, so the Central Coast Section no longer puts on Open Division playoffs.

Thus, all five division champions will advance to the regionals and only the champions.

That's different than previous years where Open Divisions 1-3 would send five representatives to regionals. Besides the champion, between three D1-3 runner-ups, the CCS would advance two teams based on a point system.

Now, that's all gone away. It's clear and simple. Win your division and advance. If you don't, season is over.

Last year's Division champions were Menlo-Atherton (D1), Valley Christian (D2), Aptos (D3), Burlingame (D4) and The King's Academy (D5).

Menlo-Atherton and Wilcox, the D1 runner-up, went on to win state championships.
