Softball Recap: Morgantown Has No Trouble Against North Marion

Morgantown won the last time they faced North Marion and things went their way on Monday too. The Mohigans put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 7-0 victory. Considering the Mohigans have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

MADISON WISMAN made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on PAIGE RHODES, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since April 1st. BETH ROBINSON was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Morgantown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Morgantown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for North Marion, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Coming up, Morgantown will be playing in front of their home fans against Preston at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mohigans are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for North Marion, they will head out on the road to square off against South Harrison at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
