Flag Football Game Preview: Costa Mesa Mustangs vs. Buena Park Coyotes

The Costa Mesa Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Buena Park Coyotes at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Costa Mesa is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Costa Mesa's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Katella by a score of 13-0.

Emma Freeland had another great game (as she tends to do), throwing for 212 yards and two TDs, while also rushing for 73 yards on only nine carries. 99 of Freeland's passing yards were hauled in by Kassandra Ramirez.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Costa Mesa's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Myah Martinez.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buena Park). They claimed a resounding 50-12 win over Ocean View. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Costa Mesa's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Buena Park, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Things could have been worse for Costa Mesa, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 25-6 loss to Buena Park in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
