Baseball Game Preview: Sparrows Point Pointers vs. Pikesville Panthers

The Sparrows Point Pointers will take on the Pikesville Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Sparrows Point didn't have quite enough to beat Randallstown and fell 5-3.

Meanwhile, Pikesville made easy work of Perry Hall on Wednesday and carried off a 9-2 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Isaac Garonzik spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Ritchie Carlton was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was William Holaday, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Pikesville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Sparrows Point, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
