Soccer Recap: Piedmont Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Piedmont Highlanders didn't have quite enough to beat the Mt. Eden Monarchs and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while the Monarchs are ranked 234th).

Jacques Saldanha and Harper Mand scored both of Piedmont's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Piedmont has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7-4 record this season. As for Mt. Eden, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-3-5 record this season.

Piedmont wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Hayward on the 30th. As for Mt. Eden, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Arroyo on the 30th.
